found {wood and sudden inspiration}

I found this wide, old beauty the other day. So I decided to make myself a simple bench.

And into the bedroom it goes to replace a rather unsuitable table that was there before. Much better! I love the way the old wood looks with my patterned Indian blanket. Now begins the cleanup of the very dusty and explosive mess that inevitably ensues after using power tools in the middle of an apartment. *sigh!*

  1. Perfect! I love the wood with a bit of green you used. Just that little peek of color with all those handsome natural woods is very nice.

    lots of good north coast driftwood for a demilune table
    for a client with a round seashell mirror above.

  6. Ariele takes a discarded piece of "junk" and make it into a charming and elegant piece of furniture. Why pay more if you don't have to?

  8. What a wonderful find.
    I adore the bench, and yes it looks fantastic in your bedroom with the Indian blanket!
    Loving how the faded aqua of the front panel gives it life.

    Am also adoring the 'door knocker' - a deer? Please tell us more about that..

  9. Charlotta ~ That deer door knocker/towel hanger actually came from, wait for it... Marshal's! It was super cheap, and it's actually cast metal! So cool. But it's not old :(

  10. I am so happy to see this spot. I have been building a table and was stuck at how exactly to put it together. This is very helpful for me and I love the bench. Thanks for sharing.
